According to a preliminary World Health Organization report published in 2017, naturally occurring CBD is non-toxic, safe and well-tolerated in humans, and is not associated with any negative public health effect or abuse potential. However, there may be some individuals who experience CBD-related side effects due to hypersensitivity or general intolerance to cannabis.
In the case of CBD related side effects, these are generally promptly resolved with discontinuation of use. Because CBD does not create a psychoactive feeling of being “high”, there is generally less risk of adverse effects with consuming CBD, compared to consuming too much THC.
