The two main medicinal compounds found in cannabis are the cannabinoids “THC” and “CBD”. THC does create a euphoric, psychoactive response, the feeling of being “high”. CBD, on the other hand does not create a psychoactive response.
This means that one type of cannabis product may create a psychoactive effect, while another may not give rise to the same feelings. Different types of cannabis can affect people differently. There are a number of factors at play, the most significant being the percentage of specific cannabinoids present in that particular product.
Generally, strains of cannabis with high levels of CBD and lower levels of THC are reported as being helpful to patients who wish to avoid the euphoric feelings of being high.
